Mi Gringo!

Being the outsider, the “gringo” in a small rural Colombian town has its benefits and its significant drawbacks. Every day, something different is noted by my relationships with my fellow Momposinos. But, the most interesting communication I have really stems from my almost daily chats with the kindly soul who comes to dispose of my trash. I discussed this in an earlier blog. I have since had time to add another blog to this series that can be read.

“Mi Gringo!”

She comes and hollers through the colonial ironwork on the window. She waits. She knows I’ll appear. Her very appearance brightens my day. This is my “novia” who comes to take away the trash every other day here in Mompós.

“Como estas mi gringo?”
