Colombia 2 – 1 Ivory Coast: Euphoria in Bogota

Goals from James Rodriguez and Juan Fernando Quintero were enough for Colombia to edge out the Ivory Coast in a closely contested top of the table Group C clash in Brasilia today creating a state of euphoria in Bogota.

And so Colombia are as good as through to the last 16 and will face either the winner or runner up from Group D. Remember, they beat Greece in a convincing 3-0 five days ago.

The car horns will run late into the night tonight as Bogotanos and Colombians in general celebrate what will be their second ever progression into the knockout phase in the World Cup, a feat they have only once achieved at Italia 90.

Of course, we were not at risk of being run down by drunk drivers since there was an alcohol prohibition or ley seca in place as decreed by Bogota mayor Gustavo Petro. I drank coffee through the Colombia game! Not all of us are animals Mayor Petro!

Euphoria in Bogota.

Next game vs Japan.
